Course Overview

This Diploma is a professional qualification in Clinical Psychology. It is made up of a strong practical component, which facilitates a greater understanding of real people and their experiences.

A career as a clinical psychologist is a valuable profession; where people express their deepest feelings and entrust you to guide them to a positive transformation. Through helping individuals, this ultimately can help to shape a better society as a whole.

General Eligibility

This is a limited entry programme (of 16 people each year). A special application is required. See 'How to apply' below for more details.

You will need to have either:

  • an honours degree in Psychology (Bachelor of Arts with Honours or Bachelor of Science with Honours); or

  • Part I of a master’s degree from an Aotearoa New Zealand university in Psychology completed (Master of Arts or Master of Science); or

  • an equivalent qualification acceptable to the University and approved by the Head of Department.

Part Time Work Details

20 Hours of Work permit weekly for international students.

Language Requirement

  • The IELTS score for international applicants is 6.5 (with no less than 5.5 in each component).
