This course is subject to authorization and approval by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). If you are looking to qualify as a solicitor in England and Wales you have several options. This includes attempting the new Solicitors Qualifying Examination 1 and 2 (SQE 1 and 2) which will be introduced from September 2021. As a graduate of this course you will be able to seek to progress to qualify as a solicitor in England and Wales by doing one of the following: Completing a period of recognized training, usually a 2 year paid €˜training contract with a law firm or other organization authorized to provide training. Qualifying through equivalent means by compiling a portfolio of work documenting at least 2 years of experience working under the supervision of a practicing solicitor in a paid or voluntary role. This could be as a paralegal or equivalent. Taking the Solicitors Qualifying Examination 2 (SQE2) and completing 2 years' qualifying work experience (QWE). This includes time spent in York St John Law Clinic.
If you have graduated with a 2:2 in a related subject, you can still apply for this course. You will be invited to an interview to assess your academic achievement and experience.
If English is not your first language you will need to show that you have English Language competence at IELTS level 6.0 (with no skill below 5.5) or equivalent.
