Course Overview

In the first year, you will learn from a broad range of topics to give you a feel for Surveying as a profession, including introductions to Construction Costs and Measurement, Building Design and Technology, Property Value Studies, and Property and Construction Law.

You will then progress on to more specialist subjects, including Construction Financial Management, Construction Project Management, and Construction Contracts, and further develop your skills in Cost Planning and Estimating, Measurement and Quantification of Construction and Engineering Works, Contractor’s Estimating, and Building Design and Technology. The course will allow you to learn the skills involved in design economics, procurement methods, cost planning and estimating life cycle costing, measurement and quantification of construction work, and contract management.

We have regular guest lectures from industry experts who talk about working examples of their projects, giving you a natural feel of how the industry works. These strong links have resulted in students being in high demand from the drive before graduating.

General Eligibility

Our entry requirements indicate standard and Minimum qualifications with which we usually accept students. However, competition for places varies yearly, and you aren't guaranteed a business if you meet the minimum qualifications.

This course is only available for entry into Years 1 and 2.

GCSE Grade C/4 in Maths and English.

Irish Leaving Certificate

Grades H3, H3, H3, H3 at Higher Level including a Science.

Grade O4 at Ordinary Level in Maths and English is also required.

BTEC (QCF) Extended Diploma Level 3

Minimum grades MMM (Merit, Merit, Merit) in a related subject.

GCSE Grade C/4 in Maths and English.

 

BTEC (QCF) National Diploma Level 3

Minimum grades DD (Distinction, Distinction) in a related subject.

GCSE Grade C/4 in Maths and English.

International Baccalaureate Diploma

Award of Diploma with 26 points overall with three HL subjects at grades 5, 5, and 5.

Four points in SL Maths and English.

T-Level

Pass, including GCSE Grade C/4 in Maths and English.
