This is a course that is taught in collaboration with our partner School-Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) organizations. We currently work with the Bromley Schools’ Collegiate; other partnerships are in development.
You will learn from experienced colleagues based in your SCITT who will prepare you for assessment against the Teachers’ Standards at the end of your training year. This will allow you to achieve Qualified Teacher Status.
With colleagues at Canterbury Christ Church University, you will learn to use the insights from research and your wider reading to benefit your understanding of teaching and learning.
This is a cross-phase course which means that it is open to those preparing to teach in both primary and secondary phases. The course takes one year to complete.
Entry requirements are set by our partner SCITTs. Usually, a good honors degree of at least a lower second-class (2:2) standard is required.
The DfE stipulates that all those entering a course of teacher training must have English and Maths at GCSE 'C'/4 or above, or equivalent, for Secondary (11-18). For the Primary route, candidates will also need Science GCSE at grade 'C'/4 or above.
20 hours of work permit weekly for international students.
If English is not your first language you require an IELTS overall score of 6.5 with no element below 6.0.
