Course Overview

In this unique Marine Vertebrate Conservation course, you will study marine organisms, their habitats, and the food web supporting the top predators, including marine mammals, fishes, seabirds, and reptiles. This degree explores the general principles of biology, marine biology, and marine science, along with the taxonomy, physiology, behavior, and ecology of marine vertebrates. You will learn about applied aspects of zoology such as fisheries, aquaculture, conservation biology, and ecotourism. Throughout this degree we take full advantage of our location, placing a strong emphasis on fieldwork including seagoing experience. In the third year, you will learn about shark ecology as well as marine mammal ecology, identification, and survey methods, which will involve ship and/or land-based fieldwork.

General Eligibility

HSC (4.5 GPA or above) will be considered for direct admission to Bachelor's degree courses.

HSC Student (below 4.5 GPA) – plus 1-year Foundation Programme or must obtain a two-year Bachelor's Degree (Pass).

Part Time Work Details

The 20 hours is total hours. It is not per job. If you hold multiple part-time jobs then the total hours of all the work you are doing added together.

Language Requirement

  • If you do not meet the English Language requirements to enter the International Incorporated Bachelors or the International Incorporated Masters, BUIC offers you a range of Pre-sessional English Programmes which you can take before you start these courses.

    If you have an IELTS of 5.0 (with no component below 4.5), you will be offered a 6-week Pre-sessional English course immediately preceding your entry to the IYZ.

    If you have an IELTS of 4.5 (with no component below 4.0), you will be offered a 12-week Pre-Sessional English course immediately preceding your entry to the IYZ.
