Course Overview

Studying the PGDE (Secondary) Mathematics course is a rewarding and absorbing experience. Our students go on to enjoy busy careers where their skills are in great demand due to the reputation for high quality, which the University of Strathclyde enjoys within the teaching profession.

General Eligibility

Degree requirements

An ordinary degree or international equivalent.

Degree must include:

  • 80 SCQF credits of maths-related subjects such as:

    • Algebra

    • Analysis

    • Calculus

    • Geometry

    • Statistics

    • Differential Equations

    • Probability

    • Hydrostatics

Engineering degrees are considered individually to determine the depth and breadth of mathematics covered.

Maths & English

  • Higher (SCQF Level 6) English Grade C or above

  • National 5 (SCQF Level 5) Mathematics Grade C or above

Maths and English qualifications can be in progress at the time of application.

Part Time Work Details

20 hours of work permit weekly for international students.
