Course Overview

A psychology and counseling degree offers more choices in terms of career options than many other degrees. In addition, employers recognize the subjects as tangible assets because they develop people skills and knowledge that are invaluable when working with individuals and teams.

This degree is designed to give you a thorough grounding in the theory and application of psychology and counseling. The emphasis is on innovation and learning through various styles that have widespread use while developing essential skills and relevant practical experience. The counseling skills you gain will provide a basis for further study and training in counseling. In addition, your final year supervised research project will allow you to explore an area of psychology you choose.

You will:

• Learn about the principles of psychology, bio-psychology, and the psychology of social behavior, as well as research methods

• Be introduced to key theoretical counseling concepts and start to develop your practical counseling skills

• Focus on the theoretical aspects of helping relationships and consider how this relationship can be used to benefit clients' psychological health.

GCSE

Three GCSE subjects at grade C/grade 4 or above, including Maths and English.
