BSc Children's Nursing

... United Kingdom
... University of Roehampton London

Course Overview

You will study subjects across nursing, as well as specific modules on children’s nursing. You’ll learn the importance of person-centered care, the principles of caring for children and young people, and understand how to provide complex and critical care for children. With a focus on community and primary care, you will learn how to deliver care in a wide variety of settings, including GPs' practices, schools, and outreach work.

This course is taught in our specialist facilities at Croydon University Centre, based in East Croydon. Here, you’ll be taught in our brand new Clinical Simulation Centre (CSC) – a state-of-the-art teaching space with GP practice rooms, simulated home, and community environments, and a fully functioning hospital ward. You will also have access to the facilities on our main campus, in southwest London, as well as Roehampton's online and in-person study and careers support services.

You’ll gain practical skills and experience through a range of clinical placements. These placements will prepare you for registered practice, and allow you to develop relationships with employers.

You’ll also spend a significant amount of time learning in our CSC where you’ll safely practice clinical skills with other students, service users, role players, and hi-tech patient simulators under the guidance of experienced clinical and academic staff.

You’ll also develop your theoretical knowledge through lectures, seminars, group work, guided independent study, online learning, reflective practice, and a variety of assignments. You will be taught by expert staff and learn alongside nursing students and students from other health and care professions.
