Our course provides a broad understanding of biological sciences, including biomedical sciences, microbiology, animal and marine biology, and immunology. The Biological Sciences degree allows tailored learning to your interests. There will therefore be some aspects that are similar to the other degree structures but allow flexibility.
You'll benefit from studying in Edinburgh and the surrounding countryside, which is rich in biodiversity and visiting local sites of outstanding natural beauty and particular scientific interest.
You'll develop physical skills relevant to your chosen area, such as good laboratory practice, competence in microbiological techniques, and field surveying.
Our entry requirements indicate standard and Minimum qualifications with which we usually accept students. However, competition for places varies yearly, and you aren't guaranteed a business if you meet the minimum qualifications.
Advanced entry into Year 2 or Year 3 is possible for students with suitable qualifications.
