The BSc Animation for Games degree is designed to provide opportunities for students from the FE College HND advanced entry route interested in gaining the knowledge and skills required for a career in industry. However, if you have appropriate experience, you will also be considered. Studying Animation for Games will allow you to develop a portfolio of work in a specialist discipline in preparation for a role in a larger team-based organization or as an independent freelancer with a broader and more generalized skill set. During this course, you will appreciate the theory, development, and application of visual and audio assets related to animation for games. In addition, you will gain expertise in bringing narrative ideas to life through the design of 2D and 3D support and the implementation of interactive elements within game engines and audio middleware. You will also develop an understanding of the current cultural context for setting and using new types of games, giving you the confidence to critique and explore new areas as they are designed. You will study a range of theoretical and practical skills related to gaming, including 3D modeling and animation, scripting for interactive media, interactive audio, visual effects storytelling, 2D motion graphics, and team-based creative practice. You will be provided with opportunities to develop your portfolio, focus on specialist roles through an honors project, and work with others on your chosen creative project.
This course is available for year 3 and 4 entry only.
