Course Overview

This course will allow you to combine discipline-specific skills with an in-depth knowledge of the economic issues facing modern society so that you graduate equipped with the qualities that employers seek.

During the foundation year, you'll learn about key areas of business or politics and will develop the skills needed to study at the degree level.

You’ll develop your knowledge in crucial aspects of the subject, such as microeconomics, macroeconomics, quantitative methods, and the application of theoretical and empirical economic analysis to major issues of economic policy.

Our Economics with Foundation Year course is designed to be taken in combination with another subject as part of our selection of combined honors degrees. These offer you the flexibility to study complementary subjects, expanding your knowledge in different areas and widening your potential career possibilities.

You will also have the opportunity to undertake a Professional Placement or a year abroad as an optional part of your degree. A Professional Placement contributes to your development by giving you real-world business experience and increasing your career prospects as you prepare for life after your degree.

General Eligibility

Applicants should normally have 64 UCAS Tariff points, including GCSE Mathematics at Grade 4 or C or equivalent. Those without formal qualifications may be considered on an individual basis. 

Part Time Work Details

20 hours of work permit weekly for international students.

Language Requirement

• IELTS 6.5 or equivalency – with no less than 5.5 in any element.
