Course Overview

We anticipate graduates of Roehampton's BA Politics, Philosophy and Economics embarking on careers in politics - either research, campaigning, policy work, or civil service - or going into business management, teaching, journalism, law, publishing, media, public relations, community / social services and heritage or cultural management.

Our Politics modules focus on: Political Concepts, Researching and Working on Politics, Political Parties and Elections, Global Governance (how for example the UN works), and Active Citizenship.

Our Philosophy modules focus on: Ethical Theory, Freedom, Power and Politics, Self and World, Animal rights and Environmental Ethics. Political Philosophy, Gender and Philosophy, continental Philosophy.

Our economics modules provide in-depth knowledge of organisations and their environments, including their relationships with society. The economics strand addresses areas such as managing people, business organisations within a global context, and labour economics. Additionally, you'll learn how businesses can operate effectively in a multicultural environment. Students will be able to solve business problems ethically and will acquire a sound understanding of the wider economy.

We have a dynamic and diverse student body, with students joining us from all over the world. This course is designed to appeal to students from any background as we value different opinions and experiences.

General Eligibility

  • passes in two distinct subjects at GCE Advanced Level; or

  • a pass in one subject at GCE Advanced Level plus (a) passes in two distinct subjects at GCE Advanced Subsidiary Level, or (b) a Vocational A-Level Single Award, or (c) two Vocational A-Level part Awards;

  • a Vocational A-Level Double Award; or

  • a Vocational A-Level Single Award plus (a) two Vocational A-Level part Awards, or (b) passes in two distinct subjects at GCE Advanced Subsidiary Level; or

  • a BTEC National Certificate or Diploma; or

  • a completed T-Level award; or

  • a Scottish Certificate of Education with (a) passes in five subjects, including at least three at a Higher grade, or (b) passes in four subjects all at a Higher grade or New Higher grade; or

  • the full Diploma of the International Baccalaureate; or

  • an Irish Leaving Certificate with passes in four subjects at Grade C at the Higher level.

Part Time Work Details

20 hours of work permit weekly for international students.

Language Requirement

  • IELTS 6.5 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in each component.
