Through language, we can transmit knowledge, and share stories with people from all corners of the globe. Our BA in Journalism and Language Studies allows you to hone your broadcasting and multimedia skills alongside developing a high level of fluency in using languages as a medium of understanding.
The Journalism aspect of this course will enable you to make sound editorial judgments, have high-level writing and broadcasting skills, and develop your critical faculties, in particular to adopting an inquiring, skeptical, and engaged approach to producing the best journalism
Through the Language Studies component of this course, you will develop a high level of fluency in one or two languages and will learn to use these language(s) as a medium of understanding, expression, and communication with an awareness of stylistic and sociolinguistic variations.
Through the modern language component of this course, you have the opportunity to choose from French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Mandarin Chinese, and if the Mastery level is reached in the final year, then you can take a module introducing you to the theory and practice of translation, interpreting and subtitling.
UK entry requirements
A-levels: ABB, including essay-based sed subject
BTEC: DDD, depends on the ng on the subject studied - advice on acceptability can be provided.
IB: 32 points or three Higher Level certificates with 655, including a Highessay-basedsay based subject grade 5.
We are also happy to consider a combination of separate IB Diploma Programmes at both Higher aLevelsandard Level. Exact offer levels will vary depending on the range of subjects being taken at higher alevelsandard level, and the course applied for. Access to HE Diploma: 15 level 3 credits at Distinction and 30 level 3 credits at Merit, depending on the subject studied - advice on acceptability can be provided.
