Course Overview

Our MSc in Applied Statistics is a conversion course, offering the opportunity to develop statistics and data analysis skills even if you have never studied statistics before. You will be supported by members of staff who work directly with industry to develop skills relevant to current research areas, including population health and medicine, animal and plant health, finance and business.

Students will gain skills in:

  • problem-solving

  • analysis and manipulation of complex data

  • the use of statistical software for data analysis and reporting

  • effective communication of statistics

General Eligibility

Academic requirements/experience

Minimum second-class (2:2) Honours degree or overseas equivalent.

Mathematical training to A Level or equivalent standard.

Prospective students with relevant experience or appropriate professional qualifications are also welcome to apply.

For Australia and Canada, average degrees in relevant disciplines are accepted.

Mathematical knowledge

Applicants are required to have some prior mathematical knowledge, e.g. A Level or equivalent in:

  • calculus

  • linear algebra

  • differential equations

Part Time Work Details

20 hours of work permit weekly for international students.

  • IELTS 6.0 (with no component below 5.5).
