Data drives the modern world. The interdisciplinary Data Analytics minor at Elmira College is designed to build your problem-solving, mathematical modeling, computer programming, and statistics skills necessary to analyze and visualize data effectively. Nearly every profession can benefit from the tools provided by data analytics. You’ll gain the problem-solving, mathematical modeling, computer programming, and statistics skills needed to analyze large data sets and identify trends and patterns in data. You’ll work with programming languages such as Python and geographic information systems (GIS) software. The analysis and data visualizations you create can help businesses make better decisions. Data Analytics is a growing field with a broad appeal. Depending on your interests, you could use your skills in accounting, business, finance, and research in the natural or social sciences. For example, you could help a marketing team analyze consumer behavior trends and help predict new sales opportunities. Or you could collect, clean, and analyze data sets collected for environmental research.
Data Analytics is an interdisciplinary program that will prepare you for an increasingly data-reliant business environment.
