Are you a registered nurse or midwife looking to advance your career as a specialist practitioner in Health Visiting or School Nursing?
This PGDip will prepare you to achieve a professional post-registration qualification as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse on part three of the Nursing Midwifery Council register and to gain employment as a registered Health Visitor or School Nurse
Health Visitors and School Nurses are uniquely placed to identify children, young people, and families who might require additional support and play a pivotal role in improving the public health of the nation.
On successful completion of the course, you will be equipped to lead child and family public health nursing services, in primary care settings across the UK. Your postgraduate degree qualification (PGDip) and post-registration qualification as a specialist community public health nurse (Health Visitor or School Nurse) will evidence that you have acquired specialist knowledge, skills, and attributes in child and family public health practice, in accordance with professional skills frameworks and the NMC Standards of proficiency for specialist community public health nurses.
Additionally, you will have developed the necessary skills to engage in scholarly activities and practice development innovations, including writing for professional journals and presenting at conferences to promote best practices and enhance your professional profile and career opportunities in the health and social care arena.
You must have an active registration on either Part One (Nurse) or Part Two (Midwife) of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) register
You will normally have a good honors degree in Nursing, Midwifery, or a related health and social care subject with supporting references confirming your ability to study at this level.
Applicants without a first degree may be considered subject to evidence of the ability to study at level 6 or potential success at the graduate level for example in the form of a service development innovation, research, or publication.
20 hours of work permit weekly for international students.
