BHE UNI - Course - BEng (Hons) Electrical & Electronic Engineering (Part-time)

Course Overview

It touches all aspects of our lives, and we couldn't do without it. So suppose you like the idea of creating electrical and electronic systems which could help millions of people on a day-to-day basis, like the systems used in phones, computers, or the generation and distribution of electrical supply systems. In that case, a degree in Electronic & Electrical Engineering is for you.

This course balances the study of electronic and electrical engineering and focuses on applying these skills to real-world engineering situations. The study is broad enough to allow entry to various career paths in all electronic and electrical engineering areas or as an engineer working within other types of organizations. In year one, you will develop knowledge of the principles of the field and engineering management.

During years two and three, you will implement practical solutions across various applications and develop skills in lateral problem-solving and innovative thinking.

You will work on your honors project in your final year and gain enhanced skills in analog electronics, embedded systems, electrical machines, and power systems.

General Eligibility

Our entry requirements indicate the minimum qualifications with which we usually accept students. Competition for places varies yearly, and you aren't guaranteed a business if you meet the minimum qualifications.

Please note there is no year one entry for part-time to this course.

Advanced entry

Advanced entry into Year 2, Year 3, or Year 4 is possible for students with suitable qualifications.

Minimum Year 2

SQA Advanced Higher

BBC including Maths and Science (Excluding Biology) or Technical Subject*

National 5 Grade C in English.

A Level

BBB including Maths and Science (Excluding Biology) or Technical Subject*

GCSE Grade C/4 in English.

BTEC Extended Diploma Level 3

DDD (Distinction, Distinction, Distinction) in a related subject. BTEC must include Maths/A Level Grade B in Maths

GCSE Grade C/4 in English.

HNC

Pass HNC in a relevant subject with a Grade of B in the graded unit

Must include Engineering Maths 1, 2, and 3.

Technical subjects accepted

*Physics, Engineering Science, Design & Manufacture, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Graphic Communication, Computing Science, Design & Technology.

Minimum Year 3

HND

Pass HND in a relevant subject with Grade B at SCQF Level 8 in all graded units

Must include Engineering Maths 1, 2, 3, and 4.

DUT

Pass DUT in a relevant subject with an overall grade of 12 to include grade 11 in English in the final year of studies.
