Course Overview

Interested in learning all about how drugs work to fight diseases? Want to play your part in discovering new treatments in a fast-paced industry responding to a rapidly changing world? Our Pharmacology BSc(Hons) course offers an advanced program of learning designed to give you the solid grounding you need to set off on your chosen career path, whether its in the pharmaceutical industries, the health sector, or research. This course is accredited by the Royal Society of Biology. Youll be guided by doctoral-level teaching staff on a modular course designed to help you follow your interests and tailor your degree to suit your career aspirations. Alongside building your technical and scientific knowledge, youll have the opportunity to develop your deductive, analytical, and communication skills €“ all vital when you venture out into the real world. On top of that, theres the chance to gain hands-on experience in our modern biological sciences labs using modern, scientific instrumentation. Plus, if you want to get even more insight and up-to-the-minute experience, you can opt to do a work placement for the duration of your third year. During the course, well be looking at all aspects of pharmacology including neurodegenerative diseases and other conditions affecting aging populations, as well as infectious diseases such as malaria, tuberculosis, and HIV-AIDS. Youll also have the chance to study topics around public health and increase your understanding of emerging pathogens and those that are becoming resistant to antibiotics. In short, you should graduate with the knowledge and practical skills to kick-start a fulfilling career.
