Course Overview

Our MA in Applied Linguistics is designed to engage students in a wide range of topics and perspectives relevant to the field of linguistics. We explore areas relevant to professional translation, the IT industry, education and language policy, language teaching, and publishing, all of which build your professional skills alongside theoretical understanding. This course gives you the chance to gain advanced knowledge of different approaches to contemporary linguistic issues and a greater understanding of the mechanisms underlying all human language. You will have the opportunity to carry out a sustained piece of independent research on a relevant topic of your choice. Develop your understanding of the key concepts in applied linguistics and build academic and professional skills perfect for a range of language-related careers.

General Eligibility

You should have a UK undergraduate degree at 2.1 or above (or an equivalent qualification (both level and grade) from a recognized non-UK university) in relevant humanities or social sciences subject. Other subject areas may also be considered.
