The Certificate in Education and Professional Graduate Certificate in Education are professional qualifications for people teaching in further education colleges, sixth form colleges, schools, adult education, prison education, higher education, and a wide range of other education and training settings. The courses are available to graduates and to non-graduates with appropriate vocational qualifications and can be studied pre-service (1 year full-time) or in-service (2 years part-time). The pre-service course, one year full-time, is offered at the University of Suffolk at Suffolk New College and will benefit those who wish to obtain a teaching qualification before seeking employment. Attendance on the pre-service course is required two days a week in college plus further days allocated for placement. Please note, placements for applicants in the pre-service route will be arranged by the university and any offer of a place will be conditional upon successful completion of an interview at the placement site.
Applicants will require a Level 3 subject qualification, for example:
Higher National Certificate or Diploma;
Full City and Guilds Technological Certificate;
Royal Society of Arts Advanced Award;
G/NVQ III/IV Award;
Other qualifications of equivalent standards to those listed above.
All applicants are required to hold GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above.
20 Hours of Work permit weekly for international students.
IELTS (Academic or UKVI): 6.5 overall, and a minimum of 5.5 in each component
