Many economics majors pursue business career paths, but can succeed in government, healthcare, law, academia, and the non-profit sector. Economics' broad applications extend to an examination of problems and issues in a variety of areas. It complements the study of professional programs such as business administration, accounting, and finance by providing a solid liberal arts foundation upon which these programs are built. It also provides critical insights into health care policy, the environment, international trade, and globalization. Our economics curriculum emphasizes the development of foundational knowledge in micro and macroeconomics, quantitative analysis, and statistics. Specialized courses focus on applying this knowledge to a range of topics while developing and sharpening skills in conducting research and oral presentation. The study of economics provides a strong foundation for understanding the world through microeconomics, macroeconomics, and data analysis. It also supports its students with skills valued by employers. Studying economics is a means of entry to banking, business, management consulting, government, or the law. If you are interested in pursuing graduate-level study in economics, we strongly encourage you to consult closely with a member of the economics faculty.
