Our online course covers the fundamental principles and practices of records management and information rights. It provides you with the basic core competencies, knowledge, and skills required to work professionally in records management and/or information rights. Our focus is very much on a mix of the theoretical and the practical. You must be working or volunteering in an appropriate professional environment both prior to and throughout your studies so you can apply what you are learning. The course will give you an understanding of records management and information rights practice and tradition. You'll also learn about the management of current and semi-current records and how the strict requirements of legislation can be applied to working environments nationally, internationally, and within your own corporate environment. You'll gain a thorough understanding of the relationship between information rights legislation and different classes of information and how this should be managed.
You'll need to be a graduate with an Honours degree or above in an appropriate discipline. You will also need to be employed or active as a volunteer in a professional records management facility for a minimum of 1/2 day a week and have appropriate prior experience. Alternative qualifications may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Transfer of credit from other study programs may be possible by arrangement.
