Course Overview

Physiological Sciences at Dundee explores the function of organs and body systems. You will gain a broad understanding of healthy and diseased function €“ from a molecular and cellular level to exploring what happens when issues like metabolic and neurodegenerative disease are present. Youll look at the clinical aspects of physiology and focus on how body systems can be fine-tuned or optimized as well as how disease can be prevented or treated. Learning key theories in biology is important for understanding the field as a whole. Your first two years will cover concepts including evolution, biological organization, molecular mechanisms, and processes. Youll develop practical skills, including laboratory skills, data analysis, and how to design and run experiments. This will prepare you for carrying out projects later in your course. Our course curriculum is shaped by the work of our world-leading researchers to make sure youre learning the latest advances, as well as gaining an understanding of the fundamentals of the field.
