Molecular Biology BSc (Hons)

Course Overview

Molecular biology underpins modern life sciences and looks at how macro-molecules like proteins and nucleic acids can help solve biological problems. This allows us to test biochemical theories on a small, controlled scale before adapting them into real-world solutions. At Levels 1 and 2, youll study a range of life sciences topics before focusing on areas including microbiology and gene regulation and expression at Levels 3 and 4. Gaining a strong understanding of key theories, from the molecular level right up to full body systems will help you understand the field as a whole. Your first two years of study will introduce concepts like evolution, biological organization, molecular mechanisms, and processes. Youll develop practical laboratory and data analysis skills, and learn to design and run experiments. This will prepare you for carrying out projects later in your course.
