Course Overview

The employment opportunities available to you as a natural sciences graduate are extensive across numerous industries, with the potential to take you all over the world.

The natural sciences programmes here at Leeds have also been professionally accredited by the Society of Natural Sciences (SNS) and University of Leeds students are among the top five most targeted by top employers according to meaning our graduates are highly sought after by some of the most reputable companies in the field.

For many graduates the natural progression is into postgraduate study, to further develop their research skills and subject knowledge. However, there are also many opportunities to immediately take up employment if you choose the three-year Bachelor’s course.

General Eligibility

A-level: A*AA including sciences relating to pathway.

Your A-level subject combination must enable the study of 3 subjects in year 1. See table below for details of which A-level is required to study which subject on the course.

Where an A-Level Science subject is taken, we require a pass in the practical science element, alongside the achievement of the A-Level at the stated grade.

Excludes A-Level General Studies or Critical Thinking.

GCSE: English Grade C (4), if a Mathematics A Level equivalent is not required then a minimum Grade B (6) in GCSE Mathematics is required. Equivalent English language qualifications are accepted. We will accept Level 2 Functional Skills English in lieu of GCSE English.

Part Time Work Details

20 Hours of Work permit weekly for international students.

Language Requirement

  • IELTS (International English Language Testing System) Academic or IELTS for UKVI (United Kingdom Visas and Immigration) (Academic) or IELTS Online at 6.0 overall with no less than 5.5 in each component skill. Please note that we cannot accept results from these tests that are over two years old at the start date of the course you intend to study.

    TOEFL iBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet-Based Test) or TOEFL iBT Home Edition at 80 overall with no less than 17 in listening, 18 in reading, 20 in speaking, and 19 in writing. Please note that we do not accept TOEFL My Best scores and we expect candidates to have met the relevant requirements from a single TOEFL test.
