With concerns about rising rates of intervention, youll be encouraged to explore how to promote normality during childbirth and how to care for vulnerable women with complex needs, with the aim of reducing intervention. Alongside this focus on childbirth, we offer a range of optional modules that give you the chance to explore areas such as maternal mental health, safeguarding, and non-medical prescribing in more depth. Or, if you're a UK student studying on campus, you can choose to take an optional module in the Newborn Infant Physical Examination (NIPE) and graduate with an additional qualification as a NIPE practitioner. Whether you choose to study on campus or by distance learning, youll be supported by a team of expert tutors, who are all experienced midwives themselves.
Applicants should hold an appropriate Midwifery qualification and have at least one year's post-qualification experience of working as a midwife and evidence of appropriate continuing professional development. Applicants will usually have an honors degree or equivalent qualification.
