This course is innovative through the direct link made in practice and theory between the arts, education, and the professions. The course is aimed at professionals working in education, libraries, museums, galleries, the arts, health, culture, justice, business, heritage, and sports coaching. It is distinctively multidisciplinary in allowing you to draw on expertise in music, dance, PE, drama, and art. The MA will help you to make links between your creative practice and theory across the arts, education, and professions. Having a direct link between practice and theory between the arts, education and the professions is an innovative element of the course. Staffing is combined across academic faculties, providing you with the opportunity to enhance your subject knowledge. The interdisciplinary elements of the course will allow you to draw on expertise in participatory drama and performance, fine art, dance, music, sport and PE, and organizational learning within a professional context.
We would expect students to have a 2:2 honours degree within a creative or cogent subject or a degree and experience of working in a creative or educational setting. However, students who do not have a degree but have experience in the area will be interviewed and assessed on their ability. For students with English as an additional language, IELTS 6.5 is a prerequisite.
