This new BA (Hons) Moral and Philosophical Studies with Religious Education is aimed at those considering a career as a Religious Education (RE) or Religious, Moral, and Philosophical Studies (RMPS) teacher in a Secondary School setting, or those interested in exploring theological, moral and philosophical issues and debates, who would like to gain an understanding of how to lead learning. Supported by the Scottish Government, the course has been developed to address the shortage of skilled teachers in this area.
A contemporary and unique four-year program, the course combines academic study in theology, ethics, and philosophy, with vocational training as a teacher, via an innovative mix of online learning and 30 weeks of full-time placements in schools. The education elements focus on enacting the curriculum and teaching techniques, while the school placements provide the benefit of mentoring and experience within a classroom setting.
