Established in 1959, our Ergonomics and Human Factors degree will develop your understanding of the field across a range of sectors, examining how best to ensure a good fit between people, their actions, the objects they use and the environments which they occupy. You will apply theoretical principles, data and methods to ensure that design is optimised for human well-being and overall system performance. You will also have the option to select one of the following specialist streams: human factors for inclusive design, human factors in transport, human factors and ergonomics for patient safety, or ergonomics in health and community care.You will benefit from teaching provided by world-leading academics, industry experts and specialists, ensuring that you are trained to the highest professional standard. Previous guest speakers for this programme include industry experts from Humanscale, EDF Energy, Rolls Royce and AMEC, as well as specialists in health and safety, aviation safety, environmental health, health practitioners and experienced lecturers from other universities.As well as the full-time MSc qualification (8 modules and a project), this programme is also offered as a Postgraduate Diploma (8 modules) and Postgraduate Certificate (4 modules). These can all be studied full or part-time according to student preference.Past students have joined us from a wide range of academic disciplines and backgrounds, including industrial design, health sciences, human physiology, kinesiology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, psychology and branches of engineering.
