Course Overview

You'll study professionalism and evidence-based practice in the clinical setting and be introduced to the fundamental skills required for perioperative practice in the operating department environment. The focus later in the course is the specialist areas of anesthetic, surgery, and post-anesthetic care and the study of three key concepts; the pathogenesis of the disease, pharmacology within the operating department, and the contribution of research to the Operating Department Practice. ODPs are also experts in the management of specialist equipment and materials in a highly technical environment, for example handling surgical instruments, checking anesthetic equipment, moving patients, and giving medication.

General Eligibility

  • UCAS: 112 points at A2

  • BTEC Extended Diploma: DMM

  • Access to Higher Education Diploma: 112 points

  • Foundation Entry Health and Social Care

  • Key stage 3 or Adult Key Skills Level 3 in Numeracy and Literacy or Functional Skills Level 2 in Numeracy and Literacy

  • GCSEs: Maths and English at Grade C/4 or equivalent such as Level 2 functional skills in Maths and English

  • Our Apprenticeships have flexible entry requirements which take into consideration prior qualifications and experience. This may also include consideration of year of entry

Part Time Work Details

20 Hours of Work permit weekly for international students.
