The course is aimed at graduates who have a real passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to joining the teaching profession as a primary teacher with maths specialism, and who might want to become a leader in mathematics across a school setting. Through our PGCE we will help you build on this passion for teaching children in early years up to year six not only in maths but also wider subjects. On successfully completing your PGCE, as well as pursuing your teaching career and moving into completing your NQT induction, there is also potential for you to engage in further study for a full Master's and on to a Doctorate in Education. This course is designed to support you in gaining a PGCE Primary and achieving the standards to be a Qualified Teacher, with a focus on primary mathematics.
A good honors degree (2:2 or above), GCSE maths at Grade B or Grade 6, GCSE English language, and GCSE science at Grade C or Grade 5 or above (or equivalent). It is desirable that you also have an A-Level in mathematics or a related subject at Grade C or above, and/or significant related, education-based work experience.
