Course Overview

Dietitians strive to provide the best possible nutritional care for clients with acute and chronic health conditions. As part of this course, you'll: Learn to interpret and communicate the science of nutrition Understand how to use dietary manipulation and food to treat disease and optimize health Gain practical experience in our modern health science, clinical skills, and catering laboratories Be eligible to apply for registration as a dietitian with the Health & Care Professions Council, successful completion of your studies

As part of this course, you’ll:

  • Learn to interpret and communicate the science of nutrition

  • Understand how to use dietary manipulation and food to treat disease and optimise health

  • Gain practical experience in our modern health science, clinical skills and catering laboratories

The Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) regulates dietetics. The title of Dietitian is protected by law. This means that anyone who uses a designated title must be on the HCPC Register. Successful completion of the BSc (Hons) Dietetics course will give you the eligibility to apply for registration with the HCPC after you graduate.

Occupational Health clearance and compliance with standard NHS immunisations requirements are mandatory and essential for placement attendance.

General Eligibility

Access to HE Diploma

Pass overall with a minimum of 120 UCAS tariff points including 15 distinctions in chemistry and 15 distinctions in other science subjects.

T Levels

T Levels are not accepted for this course.

Scottish Awards

120 UCAS tariff points from a minimum of 5 Highers of which at least 2 must be grade B or above to include 40 points in chemistry and 40 points in other science subjects.

Irish Leaving Certificate

120 UCAS tariff points from a minimum of 5 subjects at a higher levels of which at least 3 must be grade H3 or above to include H2 in chemistry and H2 in one other science subject.

International baccalaureate

120 UCAS tariff points from a minimum of 3 Highers of which at least 2 must be grade H5 or above to include 40 points in chemistry and 40 points in other science subjects.

Interview Required

We conduct interviews as part of the admissions process and suitable applicants will be invited to an interview - interview dates will be published in due course. Invitations are sent via UCAS and you should check your UCAS Hub account for further interview details.

Part Time Work Details

20 hours of work permit weekly for international students.

  • IELTS 7.0 with no skills below 6.5, or an equivalent qualification.
