Many political, economic, social, and cultural factors impact the successful protection and promotion of human rights around the world. You will engage with debates about the universality of human rights and assess the success of human rights as a mechanism for social justice. In your second and third years, youll study topics such as debates in human rights, international human rights and the politics of human rights, and complete a dissertation. With our range of political events, volunteering options, study abroad opportunities, and guest speakers, youll be able to immerse yourself in a rich learning and practical environment that will fully prepare you for the career you choose. Youll undertake a volunteering placement of your choosing as part of our Active Citizenship module, helping those in need - whether it's helping refugees learn English, working at a food bank, or teaching in a foreign country.
