Course Overview

If English is not your first language, this subject-specific international foundation year will give you the necessary English language ability and expertise to study an undergraduate degree in law and social sciences within UK higher education. As part of your course youll: Develop intercultural awareness and self-confidence Work on your communication, maths, research, and study skills Increase skills in presentation, time management, problem-solving, and planning Gain an understanding of British culture and universities, through a series of lectures and seminars For the law aspects of the module, youll: Examine the law-making process, review court structure and the passage of an Act through Parliament Identify key legal personnel including solicitors, barristers, legal executives, and judges Review the differences between criminal and civil law Visit Leeds Combined Court Centre to see the law in practice.

General Eligibility

Academic study to a minimum of GCSE equivalent plus one year of study or work experience is required.
