Course Overview

This course will prepare you to become a midwife who is able to meet the needs of women, newborn infants, and their families. You will learn to work flexibly across a wide range of settings by developing critical thinking in order to plan and deliver high-quality evidence-based care. In your final year, you will specialize in public health issues, including global health issues and maternal and infant nutrition. All teaching staff on the course are qualified midwives who have worked in practice, and many still do. This means tutors have a unique insight into issues that affect your academic and clinical experience. Placements take place across Birminghams NHS Trusts with continuous support and encouragement from your personal tutor, academic assessors, and midwifery assessors.
