Course Overview

Globally there is a challenge to reduce energy consumption and protect the natural environment. The building service engineering industry in the UK is at the forefront of technological improvements and new ways of working. The UK Government's commitment to reduce carbon emissions to combat climate change has now been implemented through building regulations to improve energy efficiency and air tightness of buildings. With a commitment to reduce energy in buildings more natural design, such as ventilation and lighting is needed.

This course will account for the changes in the sector by exploring areas such as soft landings and virtual modelling, making the course suitable for building services engineers and design engineers within the industry in either the mechanical or electrical route.

A variety of learning and teaching opportunities will be available on your course, approximately 33% of your learning will include lectures, tutorials and class room based or virtual learning. Studying can include individual and group working.

Higher education courses also require students to undertake independent study and so approximately 67% of your studies will be through independent learning, research, reading and completing assessments.

General Eligibility

Learners must be aged 18 years on or before 31st August of the academic year that the programme commences.

You will need a minimum Level 5 qualification equivalent to 240 FHEQ credits with a merit profile in building services engineering or a related discipline, this can be from a HND or Foundation Degree.

Students will normally have English and maths GCSE at grade 4/C or above or hold equivalent qualifications.

Part Time Work Details

20 Hours of Work permit weekly for international students.
