The course will enable you to consolidate and build upon previous learning and experience in your role. It is a key to new educational opportunities, whichever setting or sector you operate within.
It is intended to create close links between the programme activities and content and ongoing professional practice. You are likely to have already undergone considerable training and professional development, but this qualification is expected to enhance your growth even further.
You are expected to be engaged as a professional in education, so the preferred study route is part-time. However, suppose you can make a compelling case for your likely success at completing the programme in a shorter, more intensive fashion and are engaged in full-time employment. In that case, you may be considered for full-time study.
The course equates to 540 credits, up to 60 may be M Level credits. To be accepted onto the course, you will typically have achieved these credits through study at the master's level or through an equivalent qualification such as a postgraduate diploma or certificate in an education or research methods-based programme, usually within the last five years and have at least two years professional experience in a relevant field. If you have yet to achieve this level 7 credits, you could complete the required amount by studying two modules on our MA Education programme. This means you have an advanced standing of 60 M level credits towards the EdD. In some circumstances, you may be accepted with other experience, qualifications, or involvement in educational research activity.
20 Hours of work permit weekly for international students.
Applicants whose first language is not English will need to satisfy the English language requirements, which are a minimum overall score of 6.5 IELTS and 5.5 in each band
