London South Bank UniversityOur Forensic Science degree will provide you with the theory and practical experience around crime scene analysis and the interpretation of evidence. You will be taught by expert academics who all have vast industry experience across a diverse range of forensic science disciplines. In our dedicated laboratories, you will gain hands-on experience using a wide range of analytical and specialist equipment. Our crime scene flat allows you to use the skills you have developed to gather evidence across crime scenes in a realistic environment. Our enrichment activities and trips allow you to see how these elements come together in the real world, including forensic entomology, bone analysis, and looking into how fire behaves.
Learn how to correctly analyse a crime scene and interpret the evidence in dedicated labs using specialist equipment, taught by academic experts from a wide range of forensic science disciplines. You’ll have the opportunity to see how these are applied in the real world with enrichment activities and trips focusing on forensic entomology, bone analysis, how fire behaves, and more. Plus, you’ll be able to flex the skills you’ve developed at our crime scene flat, where you’ll gather evidence across a variety of crime scenes in a realistic environment.
In order to be considered for entry to the course applicants would normally need to have 96 UCAS points from the following qualifications:
Level 4
Five GCSE passes, at grade C or above, including Mathematics and English and three Science A-level passes, one of which must be in a core science subject (biology, physics, chemistry).
A level mathematics or statistics would be counted as a science A level.
Equivalent qualifications include:
BTEC National Diploma/Certificate in Science, Applied Science, Forensic Science or Medical science.
Advanced GNVQ in Science, Applied Science, Forensic Science or Medical Science
Successful completion of an approved Science Access or Foundation year.
Other qualifications or experiential learning judged to be equivalent. Applications in this class will be considered in accordance with the University policy on APL and APEL.
A good standard of mathematics is required, which can be demonstrated by GCSE Grade A*- C or mathematics coverage within other advanced qualifications.
20 hours work permit for international students
Overseas entrants are required to have European and overseas qualifications deemed to be equivalent to the above qualifications by the National Academic Information Centre for the UK, with an IELTS level of 6.0.
