Course Overview

The Department of Decision Sciences’ unique Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management Bachelor of Science program is the product of a cooperative effort between faculty and industry which has resulted in a curriculum that combines leadership, technology, and operations management. Students majoring in the program receive an integrated professional education. The Operations Management component develops knowledge on process design and analysis, materials planning and control systems, quality improvement, and strategic decisions. The Business component provides an understanding of business fundamentals as well as current business trends and practices. The Engineering Technology segment provides students with a solid grounding in engineering and manufacturing fundamentals, including computer-aided design with materials sciences. Finally, the work experience component provides a real-world work experience that directly relates to students’ education.

Western’s Bachelor of Science degree program in Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management prepares students for success in today’s global manufacturing and supply chain marketplace.

Designed in partnership with industry, taught by dedicated and engaged faculty, and validated for current relevance by our advisory board, the curriculum for a B.S. degree in Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management prepares students with the tools, knowledge and experience to be productive contributors and future leaders in the global business community.

The Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management degree is unique in the blending of core business, manufacturing, supply chain and engineering courses into a comprehensive degree program. Combined with six months of internship experience, students leave the program uniquely prepared for successful careers in industry.

General Eligibility

For admission to the Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management (MSCM) program as a full major a student must meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 in their MSCM foundation courses (including Chemistry and Physics)

  • Minimum of 2.50 Western cumulative GPA

  • Minimum of 2.50 cumulative GPA in all college-level coursework including all previous institutions. The cumulative GPA is calculated on all college-level course work completed by the student, including any transfer work.

  • Students must have a Western cumulative GPA of 2.00 or higher to be considered in good academic standing within the University
