Course Overview

Our three-year course offers the complete music journalistic education, covering a broad spectrum of subjects. - Professional, editorial formats (text, photo, audio, video, social media) for music journalism - Story ideas and how to identify them - Storytelling €“ what works and why - Interviewing - Reviewing - How to collaborate on editorial outputs - How to pitch ideas to commissioning editors - How to work to a clients brief - How to be a commissioning editor - Media law - Journalism ethics - Past, present, and future projections of music journalism - How to conduct original research and develop commercially viable projects

General Eligibility

112 UCAS points from an equivalent Level 3 qualification listed on the

UCAS tariff calculator, including:

  • A Level in at least two subjects

  • BTEC Extended Diploma – DMM

  • BTEC Diploma – D*D*

  • Access to HE Diploma

  • T Levels

  • International Baccalaureate – 24 points, including a minimum of 15 points at a Higher Level

We also welcome applications from students taking Level 3 or higher qualifications not on the UCAS tariff calculator and will assess the suitability on a case-by-case basis.

All applicants are required to submit a digital portfolio

In addition to one of the above, you should have the following:

  • GCSE English Grade 4/C or Level 2 Functional Skills in English

  • GCSE Mathematics Grade 4/C or Level 2 Functional Skills in Mathematics

Part Time Work Details

20 hours of work permit weekly for international students.

Language Requirement

  • Overall IELTS score of 5.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking (or recognized equivalent).
