This BA (Hons) Literary Studies with Creative Writing degree is designed to encompass the art and craft of writing in a variety of forms, leading to a wide range of expressive and communicative career possibilities. Students will develop a wide range of writing skills across creative and non-fiction genres, different formats and contexts. Opportunities to practice and refine skills will include writing workshops, writing for digital and social media formats, real projects and in-house publications, pitches, curatorial and exhibition writing, reviews and articles. Students will also build a professional portfolio and work on real-life industry projects, giving vital employment experience to prepare for a career in writing.
The BA(Hons) Literary Studies with Creative Writing degree offers a stimulating and wide-ranging introduction to English literature and creative writing. Students will have the opportunity to study and interpret literature from different historical periods and diverse cultural settings and to develop writing skills in several genres including fiction; poetry and life writing. This will develop a wide range of sophisticated reading and writing skills across literary, creative and non-fiction genres, different formats and contexts.
2023-24 and 2024-25 entry: 96 UCAS tariff points (or above), CCC (A-Level), MMM (BTEC), Pass A*-C (T Level).
All applicants are required to hold GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above. Applicants who do not hold these qualifications may be considered on an individual basis based on their overall application and the course applied for.
Twenty hours of work permit weekly for international students.
IELTS 6.0 overall (minimum 5.5 in all components) where English is not the student's first language.
