MA Education is a flexible programme for those who want to extend their knowledge and understanding of current educational practices, contemporary matters of debate in the academic world and critical issues related to educational training.
The emphasis throughout the MA programme is on developing independent critical thinking and problem-solving. Using an inquiry-based approach, the programme is designed to give you scope to examine topics of particular interest to you in detail.
MA Education can be studied over one year full-time or two years part-time. It helps teachers to develop the educational understanding, analytical skills and leadership qualities necessary to improve pupil development and achievement in schools.
This programme allows you to learn more about curriculum, education management and leadership, as well as information technology and research methods.
MA Education is also appropriate for international students who want to broaden their knowledge and understanding of educational theory and practice.
We designed this programme for students wishing to explore the latest education research. A wide range of specialist module subjects enable you to tailor the programme to your needs.
We also offer an MA Education as an online course.
A minimum of 2.2 Honours degree (or international equivalent) is generally required, or appropriate professional experience will be considered. We still welcome your application if your degree is not in a related subject area.
This degree is for anyone interested in Education in its broadest sense; it will not qualify you to teach.
To ensure our students have a rich learning and student experience, most of our programmers have a mix of domestic and international students. We reserve the right to close applications early to either group if application volumes suggest this blend cannot be achieved. In addition, existing undergraduate students at the University of Hull have a guaranteed ‘Fast Track’ route to any postgraduate programme, subject to meeting the entry criteria (excluding Social Work).
20 hours of work permit weekly for international students.
IELTS 6.5 overall, with no less than 5.5 in each skill.
