The Engineering Foundation Year will introduce you to engineering design and problem solving, and ensure you are confident with the statistics, algebra and trigonometry needed for success at degree level. Many people who undertake the foundation year are still thinking about which sub-discipline of engineering to specialise in. The course covers both mechanical and electrical engineering and lays the foundations of physics so youll be able to test your preferences and make an informed decision about which degree to study after the end of the year. Successful completion of the foundation year will qualify you to join any of the following degrees: 1. BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering 2. BEng (Hons) Electrical and Electronic Engineering 3. GCSE Requirements: Applicants will need Maths and English Language at minimum grade 4/C, or an equivalent.
International applicants should have a minimum overall IELTS (Academic) score of 5.5 with 5.5 in each component (or an approved equivalent*).
