Course Overview

This international leading program addresses the growing demand for translators with skills in translating audiovisual texts. It covers a range of areas, including subtitling, accessibility (subtitling for the deaf and hard of hearing, audio description, and live subtitling), multimedia localization, dubbing, and voice-over for films. The program is open to multilingual students wishing to work between different languages but also welcomes students working monolingually in English. This program places significant emphasis on accessibility in the media and offers a grounding in translation theory and research methods. Through your work with dedicated software and high-tech industry-standard equipment, you will equip yourself with the skills necessary to enter the professional market and the knowledge to pursue further research in this field. You will be taught by staff who are experts in the field of translation and whose work has influenced national and international organizations. General Eligibility

You should usually hold a second-class honors degree (certain programs may require a 2:1) from a recognized British or overseas university. Advice on recognition can be obtained from the Admissions Office. Non-graduates with appropriate professional qualifications will be considered on an individual basis by Programme Conveners; contact details can be found on the individual program page. Applicants will be expected to apply and register for the full master's award.

Part Time Work Details

20 Hours of Work permit weekly for international students.

Language Requirement

• IELTS 6.5 overall with a minimum 5.5 in each component.
