This course is designed for students who want to access university and have been away from studying for some time. It is the equivalent of three A Levels, completed in 9 months, making it a very intensive programme. You will study skills for learning, social science (sociology/psychology), health studies and biology. You are advised to contact universities prior to applying, to check that you will be considered for your chosen degree on completion of the course and some universities require specific unit combinations.
Most universities require evidence of 'recent study' which means you should be planning to go to university within the next year or two. You will attend weekly tutorials which are designed to assist with study skills, confidence building and applying for university.
To be enrolled on this course, you should have been out of education with a clear idea of the course you wish to study at university. You are required to have GCSE grade C or above in maths and English/English language. Selection is on the basis of an interview and completion of an initial assessment.
You should have substantial work experience in an area related to your chosen career.
If you would like help with your numeracy and language skills before starting an Access to HE Diploma, please enquire about our adult GCSE and Functional Skills programmes.
