As a history teacher, you’ll bring the past to life and teach your pupils how historical events can be interpreted in various ways, sparking passionate debate and developing a range of skills. Full support will be given throughout the course by an experienced history specialist to enhance your classroom practice. The system prepares you for a successful teaching career regardless of your chosen destination.
Degree requirements
A second-class honours degree or international equivalent.
Degree must include:
120 SCQF credits in history. 80 of these SCQF credits should come from at least one of the following subjects:
British history
Scottish history
European history
World History
A maximum of 40 SCQF credits from ancient history is acceptable.
Maths & English
Higher (SCQF Level 6) English Grade C or above
National 5 (SCQF Level 5) Mathematics Grade C or above
Maths and English qualifications must be in place at the time of application.

20 hours of work permit weekly for international students.
