Course Overview

BA Acting at the University of Hull is a practice-based programmed delivered in direct collaboration with industry partners.

Most of our modules are production-based, working on concrete performance projects within a production ensemble setting. The rest offer practical training (voice, movement etc.) and theatre knowledge necessary for the professional actor.

Throughout your course, you will learn “on the job”, hands-on by starting work on your first production in the first week, and you'll be constantly engaged in production work until the end of your third year.

You'll also have unique access to our fantastic theatre facilities. The coursework takes place in the internationally renowned Gulbenkian Centre, hailed as the most flexible theatre space at any European university. There are two studio performance spaces and four rehearsal rooms.

Industry partners include Art’s Council England National and Portfolio Organization Middle Child Theatre Company. Our world-leading international partner is Prague Quadrennial, the world festival of scenography and performance design.

Within this rich network of professional partners and contacts, we organize masterclasses, workshops, visiting lectures, and guest shows and appearances to complement our production program.

You'll also have the chance to collaborate with students across a range of specialisms, including Drama and Theatre Practice, Game and Graphic Design & Media Production.
