Physiology is the study of the functions and mechanisms within living systems from the subcellular level up to the whole animal. In disease, pathophysiological mechanisms interfere with the normal function of these systems. Pharmacology is the science of drugs, leading to an understanding of their design, targets, therapeutic uses, side-effects and toxicology. You will learn how drugs interact with cells and tissues to control the disease. This is a rapidly developing field with wide-ranging applications, particularly for medical science, where the study of the disease requires a good understanding of both the underlying physiology and the relevant pharmacology. Over the programme, in addition to subject-specific knowledge, you will gain important transferable skills that will make you an attractive prospect for future employers.
A-levels: AAB - ABB, including at least two relevant science subjects from Biology, Chemistry, Maths, Physics, or Psychology. We may consider two AS-levels in place of one A-level. General Studies not accepted
