In the foundation year, youll gain vital study skills, plus fundamental knowledge in mathematics and computer science. In your lectures and seminars, youll be immersed in the world of computing, as youll learn about different mathematical theories, get a solid foundation in the design of products in areas covering everything from communications to robotics, and learn how to recognize basic cyber threats. Your foundation year will be shared with students from other foundation year degrees, so youll get to learn alongside students with other academic interests and with different perspectives on computer science and mathematics.
At least one A level (or a minimum of 32 UCAS points from an equivalent Level 3 qualification, eg BTEC Subsidiary/National/BTEC Extended Diploma) English Language and Mathematics GCSE at grade C/grade 4 or above (or equivalent, eg Functional Skills at Level 2) €“ if you meet UCAS points criteria but obtained a grade D/3 in English and/or Maths at GCSE you may be offered a University test in these areas.
