We welcome applicants without traditional entry qualifications as we base decisions on our own assessment of qualifications, knowledge, and previous work experience. We may waive formal entry requirements based on the judgment of academic potential. If you have no previous formal qualifications you may still gain entry to the program if you pass an entrance test. Guaranteed interview for applicants with A-level mathematics (or equivalent*), and for students with at least a Merit in the Birkbeck Certificate of Higher Education in Mathematical Studies taking the Mathematics and Further Mathematics modules. Applicants without this will need to pass an entrance test. You will also need good written and spoken English. *for example the Access to Higher Education Diploma with at least 15 Level 3 credits at either Merit or Distinction in mathematics units.
If English is not your first language or you have not previously studied in English, our usual requirement is the equivalent of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic Test) score of 6.5, with not less than 6.0 in each of the sub-tests.
